WTB Beer
I am in the process of helping a buddy get started with a kegerator and I have gone for sanke fittings I have a single 20L sanke keg I can fill for him but he doesn't want to be dependent on me and he is not a homebrewer so was wondering if any of you brewers who have gone professional sell beer in 20L Sanke Kegs to the public?

Re: WTB Beer
Most of the locals sell their beer in 20L sankes on deposit.

Thanks Rob that is good to hear. Would be nice to get some contact info plus some idea of rough pricing that I can pass on.

Re: WTB Beer
Pricing varies from brewery to brewery & beer to beer..but I'd say anywhere from $80-160 for a 20L keg is what you should expect. An 8% DIPA will likely be more expensive than a 5% brown.
Pretty much all of the craft breweries in HRM will sell kegs - some list pricing on their websites. Best bet is to just reach out to the brewery to check availability and pricing.

Re: WTB Beer
The cheapest place I’ve found for commercial 20 liter kegs is Propeller...$95/keg+$150 keg deposit...great selection and...only $5 difference on their premium line...ie - organic blonde, RIS, XPA, DIPA ($100/keg) Garrison’s kegs are $99+$100/deposit...jimboh wrote: ↑Sun Apr 15, 2018 2:03 pmI am in the process of helping a buddy get started with a kegerator and I have gone for sanke fittings I have a single 20L sanke keg I can fill for him but he doesn't want to be dependent on me and he is not a homebrewer so was wondering if any of you brewers who have gone professional sell beer in 20L Sanke Kegs to the public?
I have had cornies filled at smaller out of town venues for $80-105 (BAB)

Re: WTB Beer
I know he regularly fills growlers at Propellor so that would be ideal. I wonder if they will refill cornies? With cornies he could get away with a 4.4 cu ft fridge which come up quite often on kij. But a couple of cornies is another $120-150.

Re: WTB Beer
They will NOT fill Cornies at Propeller... I posted awhile back on who will...Bad Apple, Unfiltered, tide house, Saltbox, firkenstein, Lunn’s mill...I may have missed some but can guarantee the bigger players definitely do not...eg Moosehead, Keith’s, Propeller, Garrison...

Re: WTB Beer
I was at Nine Locks last evening and they told me they're waiving the deposit now because a few other breweries have done the same. As a result a sanke keg (unless it's a DIPA or something as mentioned above) is $115 plus tax. I didn't know this (I'm obsessed with getting commercial beer now that my keezer is finished) and I've been asking around periodically for the last few months. Is it a recent thing? That -$100 vs what I was thinking is huge. The sanke connector from everwood will be free without that deposit I was expecting to need!

Re: WTB Beer
I can vouch for 9 Locke's, $115 for the Dirty Blonde which is a staple in my Kegorator until I get off my ass and get making my own again lol And yes, they waive the deposit now which was 100.00 so my last keg only cost me 15 bucks with the deposit credit.

Re: WTB Beer
Awesome thanks. I was thrilled to hear it. I love their porter so maybe that's what I'll pick up eventually. A bit of line and a sanke and I'm set. Woo.

Re: WTB Beer
when you consider the work that goes into a batch of Homebrew (spare me the “it’s not work” bull) the price on those kegs is pretty good.
Next time I’m dry I’ll definitely get one of those going

Re: WTB Beer
Honestly its a pretty good deal, a bit cheaper than growlers and hey , you can fill your own growlers at home when you need to be portable.
