Short & Shoddy

http://brulosophy.com/2018/06/14/short- ... ore-115396

This looks like a 30 min mash with 15 min boil.

Anyone done anything like this. I have done 30 min boil, with no ill effects I could notice. How short could you go?

I am doing mash and FWH experiment now and don't want to introduce another variable.

Sandy,
I've done this for my last few APA recipes, except did a 30min boil so I get a few more IBUs on my FWH addition.

The first time I did notice a lower than normal efficiency most likely due to the shortened mash, but made up for it with some DME. Even the Brulosophy guys mentioned a reduced efficiency with this method but with adding a bit more grain and double crushing (since I do BIAB) I've had great results!

Also the Basic Brewing guys have experimented with short brew/mash days, check em out here: http://www.basicbrewing.com/index.php?page=video

Cam, I just want to be clear, 30 min mash and 30 min boil for your brew?

The BB guys are 80 min mash and 30 min boil. No real time saver.

Ok I thought for some reason Basic Brewing mashed shorter.

And yes I mashed 30min and boiled for 30min.

I did a pale ale before Christmas with a 30 min mash, no sparge and 30 min boil. Turned out great. My efficiency was 5% less than usual but I attributed that to the no sparge. Probably saved about 90 minutes total.

Thanks I may have to reconsider my process, again.
