Tacos and Beer meetup (July 21)

Post by wcturnedec » Wed Jun 20, 2018 10:54 am

Hey folks,

I've noticed the last few monthly meetings have had a drop in attendance and that's totally understandable with everyone's busy lives and all!

I've been wanting to organize a food and beer meetup (July/August) outside the monthly meetings so we can get a group of people together to hang out and sample some beverages...and eat some good food of course!

I'm happy to host and cook (I'm a taco/Mexican food addict so am happy to provide that side of things), so if people are interested or have other suggestions I'm open, I just wanted to lay it out there to the group.

Cheers!

Edit: Here is the sign-up sheet for those coming on July21st (sheet is open to anyone) - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? I'd be up for that, as long as I'm around.

EDIT: It is something that used to happen a few times a year, usually with great results.

I'd come just for the Mexican food, but if there's beer too I'm definitely up for it.

Awesome! Glad to know it used to happen, hope there is some interest!

I was thinking of middle of July, either the weekends of 14th/15th or 21st/22nd? Are you folks around then? If so I can start a poll for dates.

Depending on the timing I'd like to make it out for a few hours. It would be good to see everyone and have a chance to share some homebrew, since we don't get to do that at Stillwell or grain splits.

I just added a poll for those who are interested.

On any other those days it would most likely be an afternoon get together.

This is right up my alley. I got a tortilla press last week and have had tacos 8 times since. Just experimenting with different tortillas and meat (sous vide beef tacos kick ass).

I'm not sure if I can make it though so I'll keep an eye on it.

Having a bit of experience with polls and trying to get people together (a.k.a. herding cats), I suggest allowing people to select all the dates they are available for. Otherwise they tend to choose the date they prefer, which doesn't necessarily lead to the date most people can come. As the host you have final say, of course.

Folks with more experience with polls can chime in, should I leave the poll/topic open till the end of the month in case anyone else wants in? That can then give me sometime to get my shit together.

That sounds reasonable. Once you have a date some sort of sign up sheet would help if you're expecting people to commit and/or bring things.

Ok sounds good Kyle, I'll put together a sheet at the beginning of July. I'm happy to do most of the food, I'm just excited to try other Brewnoser's homebrews!

Hey folks,

So far only two of us are signed up on the Google Doc, would like to have it all finalized by the end of the week who is actually able to make it so I can plan what I need to buy.

Thanks!

I can’t add anything on the sheet from my phone but chalmers and I are planning on going and bringing some beers as well
