I went down this evening and there was a bit of confusion... Got the trophy and prize after five minutes though.

I appreciate anyone putting off a competition, it’s a lot of work. However when you ask people from all over to submit beers and a pile of people put in the time and effort to do so the least you can do is let them know how they scored. Probably seems like an insignificant thing for someone running such a business but that ends up being your downfall if you aren’t careful.

I also didn’t get any feedback from the last competition they did.

That’s honestly why I enter.

That's why enter too. No better way to see how your beer stands up and to work on improving. When I emailed I made mention how we home brewers really look forward to the feedback and just how important it is. I appreciate all the work that goes into it...but we also paid a lot of money to enter. Results should have been emailed out within a few days of the awards.

Here's the manager's email: gahan@murphyrestaurants.ca

I’ve been chatting with a friend who works at Gahan: the sheets are being scanned and emailed shortly. The DME closing news had the brew crew turning their attention elsewhere for a while, but the sheets are now with the marketing team for digitization and distribution.

I want to go back to when my brewing sheets were my biggest concern.

score sheets are out.
generally lacking in feedback...scores for our 1st place Hoppy Ale range from 23 (guessing not a fan of the style/almost no feedback) to 39...weird

Trophy, shirt and cash are cool tho lol

Ha! Agreed on the feedback, my scores ranged from 21-41 (for 3rd place in Saison) and comments were minimal at best.

But the cash was a nice bonus to feed my hobby/addiction!

28 to 39 for me

A few one or two word comments here and there, that's about it.

My Munich Dunkel got scores between 27 and 42. Little feedback aside from a few judges who scored higher and added a few words.

I would kindly disregard that score due to lack of detail...

Haha. I'm assuming that same judge started to write a comment on one of my other entries but must have said fuck it because they scratched out the single letter they wrote down lol. 14 on that one.

Crazy - my Hoppy Ale scores range from 20 - 41 and I didn't place in the top 5. I never even got the novice brewer award! No idea how they chose the winners but I'm thinking it was based on one person's opinion rather than these score sheets!

Oh, and one of the few comments on my beer was it appeared "chunky" WTF!

Yea my 23 was a stand alone score...most were mod to upper 30s...top being 39. Maybe they averaged or just picked one. Only criticism was a little thin. That's it. The 39 score sheet had the best and most comments.
One judge I guess was having a bad day?

My low score was a stand alone as well. I'm thinking your right on the bad day!

Mine was as well, high 30s otherwise. I'm thinking an inexperienced judge is a likely explanation. A good portion of wheat is not "oxidative colouring", it's wheat.
