One of my most favourite styles. I've been looking for an excuse to make one.

Never brewed one! But definitely will do this for sure, great excuse to make a beer I haven’t tried before!

Awesome! I was thinking about making one this winter anyway, and I haven’t entered the garrison comp since the weizen one.

You guys go for it if you have the time. I’ll just throw in an extra pound of dark Munich and be done with it.

I wimped out and only went with a double decoction. One day I'll try using melanoidin malt instead, but it's hard to move away from the traditional method.

Anyone know where you can find a commercial example of this style?

I just remembered that I put mine on tap a couple weeks ago. Hahaha it’s time to celebrate.

I followed a recommendation to up the IBU’s higher than you normally find in the style and go a little higher on the OG. I lost control of my elements during the boil and ended up with about 20% boil off so the resulting beer has more hop presence and bitterness than the judges will allow for. I’m looking at 35-40 IBU’s. What a great tasting beer though.

I jumped on it and brewed early so we’ll see if it mellows.

My first attempt is kegged and carbed now...tastes pretty good. Unfortunately I did a half batch (normally brew 11 gal batches) and my efficiency got all fucked up and missed my target by alot. The end result is 5.7% and appropriately named "the Botched Bock". I rebrewed and hit all my numbers on that one. Its still lagering right now, but will likely start carbing that one this week. Fingers crossed this one turns out. So much for not wanting 2 full kegs of this style.

Where do we have to take the entries - Garrison itself or can we drop off at Noble Grape?

You can do either, this link just states in needs to be in by February 4th: http://www.garrisonbrewing.com/wp-conte ... -Sheet.pdf

I did get an email from Noble Grape about the competition and they mentioned if dropping at NG it needs to be in by Feb 2nd. Maybe just call to confirm with them.
