Oxygen tank fills
Looking into picking up this from Everwood:
https://www.everwoodavebrewshop.com/pro ... o2-kit.htm
Anyone know where you can get these tanks filled?

Re: Oxygen tank fills
Torpedo Rays can fill the medical ones, not sure about that kind. Might be worth an inquiry.

Praxair in Burnside might be worth a call.

Re: Oxygen tank fills
I called Praxair here in Truro. So they do swaps or you can buy a new oxygen tank from them for future swap. The oxygen comes in cubic feet and to buy a new tank a little smaller than a 20 lbs(55 cubic feet) of CO2 is 249.99 plus fill another 60 bucks plus tax. He said they have a few 20 cubic feet similar in size to a 5 lbs CO2 tank and its 149.99 plus 32 bucks and tax for the fill. He said you can pickup oxygen tanks on Kijiji and they will take them as long as they don't say liquid air as it's their competition. I didn't get a direct yes that they'd swap the Everwood tanks but sounds like they will. If you don't want to buy the tank for a swap the other option is to rent it for 50 bucks a year from them. This is standard oxygen for people using torches. They don't sell medical grade oxygen as a prescription is needed for it and you have to buy it from a medical company. The small 20 cubic feet tanks sound like what Everwood has but he mentioned some sort of R rating on them. Buddy said to drop in and he'd show us what he has and set us up. I was surprised how helpful the guy was. I think the 20 cubic feet tank would last a really long time.

Re: Oxygen tank fills
So the 20 cubic foot tanks that Everwood has, Praxair won't fill/swap due the non DOT stamp mentioned in the Everwood's description. They say they won't transport them without it. The hunt continues......

Linde gas would be another to try in Burnside. Not sure if it’ll be the same deal as Praxair.

Re: Oxygen tank fills
Thanks Mike I'll give it a try. I'd like to get the oxygen package from Everwood. The tank comes empty so just need it filled or swapped. Doesn't sound like they will sell the regulator by itself.

How’d it work out?Woody wrote:Thanks Mike I'll give it a try. I'd like to get the oxygen package from Everwood. The tank comes empty so just need it filled or swapped. Doesn't sound like they will sell the regulator by itself.
I was speaking with the delivery guy at work the other day and asked him about 5 lb tanks for O2 and he said they definitely swap em. Didn’t sound like they filled em.

Re: Oxygen tank fills
I ended up getting one at Praxair here in Truro and got the Blichmann O2 regulator. A welcomed addition to the brewery.

Re: Oxygen tank fills
I bought my 5 lb. tanks used knowing I would lose them in an exchange anyway. Praxair is all we got here in my town, take them or do without.
