Re: Maritime Homebrew Challenge
I asked about BJCP judges and was only told they have an excellent group of judges lined up for this year...so they don't have bjcp judges basically lol.

Its the same every year, they just use their own team. I'll prob enter just because, but I don't expect much in the way of proper scoring lol

Re: Maritime Homebrew Challenge
At least with a NEIPA category the constant comments of "oxidized beer" might actually be true in some cases!

Re: Maritime Homebrew Challenge
I'll probably do this one because the prizes are usually good, but man, these folks really don't take community feedback very seriously which is a shame.
If I do I'll be curious if I can outdo the scoring delta I had last year (14 - 42 for the same beer )

The nudging is too terrible to even bother with. If I want bullshit feedback I can give beers to my friends.

Re: Maritime Homebrew Challenge
I've just emailed Gahan challenging the judging, scoring range and lack of constructive feedback. I'll post if they respond with anything worthwhile. I would suggest anyone else who has been frustrated with their judging standards in the last two years do the same. The more this is challenged the more likely they will be to make improvements and we might get this turned around into a decent competition (with great prize money!)

Re: Maritime Homebrew Challenge
Just a heads up, I contacted them to ask about the judging, and they are making a concerted effort to improve it. They will be registering with the BJCP, which means a lot of changes to the judging and better feedback to all entrants. There may even be a call to mainland BJCP judges to take part, depending on number of entries and PEI judges! But there are provisions for non-BJCP judges to do it, as long as they adhere to the standards (which they were not doing previously).

Re: Maritime Homebrew Challenge
Hey folks, quick reminder that we’re just under 4 weeks out of the submission deadline, and 5 weeks out of the judging. Be sure to sign up and get brewing ASAP! No word yet on how many folks have signed up, but the prizes are certainly amongst the most lucrative in the region, so it doesn’t hurt to throw your hat in the ring! And I assure you that the feedback and scoring will be the best it’s been yet!

Given the fact that they look as if they're trying to make some needed changes this year, I'm willing to give them another shot.

Yeah I am brewing up a quick fresh NEIPA and trying it doing pressure fermentation to speed it up due to time constraints with work and family. See how it goes!

Re: Maritime Homebrew Challenge
I know it's early but has anyone submitted yet? I was just going to do the signup now and just want to confirm that I'm reading this wrong:
They way it's worded makes it sound like $60 which I assume is a mistake since it was $30 last year? How do I submit a beer into the Maritime Home Brew Challenge?
To submit a brew you must pay the $30 entry free with details on your beer through Eventbrite and provide up to 6 bottles of the beer ~ 355mL or larger to your local Gahan House. You must drop it off by October 30th to your local Gahan House with a completed submission form. There is also a $30 submission fee to enter a beer into this challenge that must be paid upon drop off.

If its 60 dollars I will be keeping my NEIPA for myself hahaConanTroutman wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 1:36 pmI know it's early but has anyone submitted yet? Re: Maritime Homebrew Challenge
I emailed asking that question...it is $30 per entry. They are going to reword it.
