First brew in NS and with proper gear. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale clone. Ohhhh so. THAT’s what a healthy fermentation looks like :O

Re: What's everyone brewing?
Trying a Raw Ale in the Norwegian/Estonian tradition, minus the juniper branches. I used up some leftover, unlabeled hops (about 4oz.) which I brought to a boil in the strike water to make a hop tea, which then once cooled to strike temperature, I poured over 20lbs of milled grain, again, some leftovers from other brews. I'm holding the mash at 155 for an hour after which I will run it through the chiller and then straight into the fermenter with 1 or 2 packages of Mangrove Jacks Kviek depending on the OG. I'll let you know in a week what happens!
On Tap:
Irreplaceable Pale Ale
On Deck:
Fermenting
Black IPA
Planning
Irish Red Ale

Re: What's everyone brewing?
Are you treating your wort with campden pre-ferment? I’ve read through a raw beer thread on HBT and the OP has issues with spoiled brews. Now recommends a short boil before chilling.Peterpasha wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 5:48 pmTrying a Raw Ale in the Norwegian/Estonian tradition, minus the juniper branches. Re: What's everyone brewing?
As long as it's pasteurized there shouldn't be any need for a boil or campden tablets.

Re: What's everyone brewing?
From what I read, as long as you can hold 155+ on the mash for at least 15 minutes, you should be good. I always use campden tablets on my strike water to counteract chlorine in my water.ConanTroutman wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 11:19 pmAs long as it's pasteurized there shouldn't be any need for a boil or campden tablets.
