Re: Leap year into Kegging! Free shipping.
Placed an order for a kegerator kit tonight. I was going to get just the dual tower, but decided to add perlick faucets, a regulator (just so I can force carb with my 2nd 5lb tank without removing the one in the fridge), and all the ball lock connections. Excited to finally get this mini fridge converted

It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? They are a forward sealing faucet so they don't stick like the standard ones after sitting for awhile without use.spears104 wrote:What is the advantage of a perlick faucet?

As far as I know, the standard faucets tend to stick..

Keep in mind that Perlick is a manufacturer of the cheap rear sealing faucets too.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

Big time. Currently not very happy with the taps on my triple tower. They are all gummed up everytime I go to use them.Jimmy wrote:spears104 wrote:What is the advantage of a perlick faucet?

Re: Leap year into Kegging! Free shipping.
The Free Shipping trial will be wrapping up tonight or later this weekend. I've got to be honest I love the feedback from it, and love the fact we were able to offer it. Downside is the kegs are just so big and Canada is just so large. That product alone makes the idea a challenge to work with. CO2 tanks do not help much either!
I looked at a few options. I do not want to jack up prices (I am cheaper then the USA guys many times even before shipping and brokerage!). So, going to try a flat rate of $9.99 which will open another competitive feature. We can lower the threshold to qualify for the subsidized shipping down to $50.
Thank you all very much for your continued support.

Re: Leap year into Kegging! Free shipping.
Ok, so I've done a few pours with it and it looks like I'm going to need to adjust something...I've always had perfect pours with the picnic faucets, but with this it's just foam (and that's even after a couple consecutive pours to cool the lines/tap). Something else I've noticed is I am getting a plastic taste in the beer now. Anyone have any idea what would be causing this? I'd assume the line that comes pre-installed on the tower shouldn't give me that flavor.

hmmmm, not sure on the taste. How's the line length and serving pressure?
And do not throttle the valves. Wide open only.

About 5' on each tap (which is probably short but no shorter than the lines I was using before).mr x wrote:hmmmm, not sure on the taste. How's the line length and serving pressure?

Serving pressure is 11 lbs, same as before.

Re: Leap year into Kegging! Free shipping.
5' to me sounds way short. I am a big fan of starting at 12-15 and cutting down from there if you find your pour is too slow. But that has never been the case for me at 12-15psi serving pressure.

Re: Leap year into Kegging! Free shipping.
I purchased a triple tower from these guys a couple months ago. Mine probably has the same 5' lines you're talking about. There was a white powdery residue on the hoses and I had to soak them and rinse the fuck out of them until water tasted normal out of them. Also, I had to turn my serving pressure down to 8psi to get rid of the foam.

I have one for you Jimmy. If you'd rather not wait until the GB pickup next week, we can meet up sooner.

Re: Leap year into Kegging! Free shipping.
Towers come with 5' installed everywhere. It is a sore point for me as well. We will increase the length on request. For a while we were shipping our pass through kits with 10' of line and the amount of calls we had for balancing issues almost tripled. Unfortunately balancing lines is not a straight out of the box solution. This link is an interesting read:

I'll hold off for now Tim, but thanks for the offer.TimG wrote:I have one for you Jimmy. If you'd rather not wait until the GB pickup next week, we can meet up sooner.
I am going to look into adding longer lines, and getting a fan blowing some air into the tower.
On that note...is Noble Grape the only place to buy this hose locally?
