Interesting.....can you get a dragon fruit extract or are you just adding real dragon fruit to the secondary? Have you done this before and if so how'd it turn out?mr x wrote:Brewing up Triple Threat Wheat V2.0. Gonna be dragon fruit, watermelon, and something else....

First time. Using real fruit. Puree is out there, but hard to find in this country. Although I should check the asian shops.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Saturday Sanitarium and I will be brewing 3 double batches; Blonde Ale, Irish Red, and a Porter. Let's hope the weather stays nice.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
I guess I'm doing an IPA to replace the one that went sour. Had been planning to re-do the APA I made before hoptoberfest, I think that will be pushed to the following weekend, after payday.
Brewing right now: whatever is going on tap at Stillwell in a few weeks.

Just chilling a batch of comfortably numb to pitch into and have my random brown mashing at the same time. Great day for brewing out here in the marsh.

Was planning on a Spruce Ale Sunday, but it looks like the weather will be crappy, so I'll do it sometime later this week.

Interesting.. there is no way my 50L keg would be able to handle a 10gal BIAB. Are you topping up with DME?

Brewing a Stone Levitation clone tomorrow and doing a Citra IPA on Sunday—family brew day, that one should be interesting.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
I'm planning on breaking in my rig tomorrow or Saturday. I'm going to brew my Amarillo Pale Ale with some slight modifications: more late hopping and less 2-row since my efficiency will be way better. I'm actually looking for a bit lower ABV this time (4.8% or so), last time it was 5.5%. I really liked this beer.
I'm looking at a 30L strike water vol BIAB with about 22L going into the fermenter. My calculations are based on 75% efficiency which I'll modify once I actually brew on the system.
Estimated OG: 1.046 SG
Estimated Color: 5.8 SRM
Estimated IBU: 29.9 IBUs
Ingredients:
------------
Amt Name Type # %/IBU
4000.0 g Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 1 88.9 %
300.0 g Caramel/Crystal Malt - 30L (30.0 SRM) Grain 2 6.7 %
100.0 g Aromatic Malt (26.0 SRM) Grain 3 2.2 %
100.0 g Barley, Flaked (1.7 SRM) Grain 4 2.2 %
14.0 g Amarillo Gold [8.50 %] - First Wort 60.0 Hop 5 16.4 IBUs
20.0 g Amarillo Gold [8.50 %] - Boil 20.0 min Hop 6 12.9 IBUs
1.00 Items Whirlfloc Tablet (Boil 15.0 mins) Fining 7 -
14.0 g Amarillo Gold [8.50 %] - Boil 1.0 min Hop 8 0.6 IBUs
1.0 pkg Nottingham Yeast (Lallemand #-) [23.66 m Yeast 9 -

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Thanks, it comes through alright. A nice quaffable brew with decent hop flavour and the aromatic and flaked barley lend to a balanced maltynes and decent mouthfeel.

Multitasking—collecting first runnings for my Levitation call and participating in a conference call for work. Making sure my time spent on the call is productive.

Is that the Can You Brew It clone recipe? I brewed that last year... came out really tasty, and surprisingly close to the real thing.jeffsmith wrote:Brewing a Stone Levitation clone tomorrow and doing a Citra IPA on Sunday—family brew day, that one should be interesting.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
It is, though I don't have any Crystal hops on hand, so just going to sub in Amarillo—can't go wrong with that.
