Hello From Moncton
Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself....I am relatively new to the "good beer" scene, having become more adventurous and setting out to try the local offerings. I also have an interest in homebrewing, though I haven't brewed a batch yet. I discovered this forum while perusing the 'net for home brewing resources.
The NB Liquor inventory is quite limited, so I am also looking for recommendations on where to sample or acquire craft beers in the Maritimes.
Looking forward to some good beer talk!
Curtis

Re: Hello From Moncton

There's a contingent of Brewnosers in the Sackville/Amherst area (SAAZ). We have our own tasting evenings every now and again. We shoot for monthly, but with all of our schedules it doesn't seem to happen quite that often.
As for good places to acquire beer, Premier Wines in Halifax is pretty much the best outside of attending Brewnoser meetings for a taste of some different brews.

Re: Hello From Moncton

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Welcome!
Don't forget about Marky's Laundromat on St. George Street. Lot's of great beer there!

At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys. I stopped in at the Laundromat with some friends the other day and sampled a Garrison Nut Brown on tap, I plan to head back there often. Didn't have a chance to see the bottle collection, but I hear it is very, very good. And Acadie-Broue!

Us SAAZ folks are overdue for a trip to the Laundromat. Of course you are always welcome to make a trip down the Trans-Canada and visit our (infrequent) meetings.

Sounds good Jeff. As of right now that weekend is free and I don't have any detailing jobs booked.
