Local fermcap source?

Buddy of mine is looking for some fermcap.

Only place I've really seen it before is at ontariobeerkegs but it's not worth the order/shipping for a little vial of stuff.

Anyone know of a local source or doing an order to ontariobeerkegs I can slap a bottle of fermcap onto?

We did a group buy last summer, and I'll be needing more soon (most likely others too). Perhaps whoever organized that (Nash?, X?) can let us in on the place to order from.

You guys seem to be running through a lot of that stuff. I only use maybe .5ml in a 10gal batch. Just enough to thinly coat the ball of a swizzle stick.

I read you can use an equivalent commercial product called Ovol which is sold as anti-gas drops for babies. It has the same functioning chemical, simethicone, which simply reduces surface tension. I was talking with a pharmacist I know who basically said that stuff is one of the most inert products on the shelf. If you consider this route, just make sure its the unflavored stuff.

Will this serve the same purpose? The ingredient list is silicone and propylene glycol, and I'm no chemist so I don't know if this adds up.

It's what we use currently and have used fermcap & 5-star defoamer in the past - I can't see a different. And the silicone is the defoaming agent that drops out in fermentation. I think the propylene glycol just thins it out. This stuff is liquid but the fermcap is much thicker.

Anyway, it's the only stuff I know of locally and it does work.
