I've made about 6-8 recipes from that book so far, and I've thought all of them have been really good. I made a starter last night for the English IPA in that book.

I'm planning on making the BCS dry stout recipe next. Has anyone made it?

I haven't tried a recipe that I didn't like from that book.

I did, back in March, 2011. I still have a bottle, for some reason...

I don't have my book on hand but the stout I have in the primary is a lot like it IIRC.

I used about 3kg of 2-row, 1kg flaked barley, 500g roasted barley. Goldings, us-05.

Sent from the brew timer.

Just finished up a Belgian Dubbel, piggybacking the yeast from the Belgian Blonde I did 2 weeks ago. I need a proper false bottom for my MT. Using a Phil's false bottom for now which is too small and cannot support the weight of the grains in the non-flat Sankey bottom. It jammed against the bottom of the MT and my runoff was super slow. Learning with the new system that efficiency is largely affected by sparge rate. I can fly sparge fast (15 minutes / 5 us gal) and get 70%, or sparge slow (40 min/ 5 us gal) and get 85%.

Tomorrow Chalmers and I will be brewing up our Belgian Blonde ale.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Sampled from the primary my lemon pineapple blonde with citra and saaz hops.

Initial conclusion is that I'm gonna add some more pineapple, and dry hop with citra in the secondary.

This thing rocks. It's so easy. Load up the mlt with grain, then add the water and mix.

I recommend everyone make this. Something I've never seen sold, but so useful.

I'm going to try my hand at making three batches almost identical except for the hops, using BCS american ale as a starting point...

I am currently mashing a Blonde Ale. I am experimenting with RO water and brewing salts. So, I am starting off with light ale recipes and go from there.

That even looks like it has a ton of hops in it, Jamie. Gonna be a strong one for sure.

No brewing this week for me, but I did add a bit of gelatin to a lager I had out for a diacetyl rest.
Man that stuff works fast. Looks crystal clear right now. Gonna keg it tomorrow night for lagering.
