I counted over 15 shoots coming up on that Zeus, close to that on the Mt. Hood and over a half dozen on the Goldings (which is great considering it only grew 24 inches last year).

Here you go.
Zeus - the biggest shoot here is out of focus. I counted 35 shoots (or beginnings of shoots). I'm obviously going to clip some of them and only keep the 8-12 biggest shoots

I put up my new trellis today. Let's see how it holds up under the wind off of the marsh.

That's a pretty precarious ladder setup you have there. If you need one again, don't hesitate to give me a shout, I've got a 21' folding one in my shed. Folds up small enough to fit in the trunk of my car.

I will take you up on the offer, one of the dog's toys got stuck on the roof over the winter and is stuck in the rain gutter now. The step ladder/picnic table combo worked better than planned, though I'm glad I got out there before the rain started up again.

My first year hops have finally started to make an appearance—seeing a couple shoots of Zeus and Cascade and the Centennial is looking like a monster already with 6 or 8 shoots coming up. My brother in law has some Mt. Hood, Willamette and EK Goldings that are springing up like crazy as well. Can't wait until they start producing...

Really? Mine are second year plants and I would be surprised if they are over a foot high (though BC Goldings - now Cumberland Goldings 8-) )

Got my setup done (well, as done as it needs to be until they are higher than 12 feet).
For those who haven't got their string setup yet, I've got lots of good "hairy" twine (it might be jute/hemp, I'm not 100%) that I could part with.

i've gotta get my string up, my plant is about 3ft tall now and running out of room on the stick it's around.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Precarious? The guys at FiddleHop Farms (Garrison's new supplier near Truro) put their trelli up using a hay trailer with ladders on it, and drove through the fields with guys on the ladder. Now that's smrt.
Brewing right now: whatever is going on tap at Stillwell in a few weeks.

Any updates? Photos??

I've got some shoots but it's a pretty close race, I am not sure which two are strongest. Will give them another week or so.

Some of them are at least 8' now. I'll post pics as soon as I can - I'll be at the Relay for Life all night, but hopefully by Sunday.

Mine are going pretty slow, but for just planting them a few weeks ago, they're doing pretty well. Starting to get a few up to nearly a foot. Not expecting a whole lot this year though.

Finally seeing some good action from my hops—might be time to start putting a trellis together.
