Best Dark Beer for Slow Cooker Recipe?

Post by bluenose » Wed Oct 09, 2013 8:21 pm

I'm looking for a good dark beer for a pork slow cookernrecipe. It has to be store bought this time, but a recipe for home brew for future dishes is also welcome.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

We used a st Pattys day stout in our short ribs and lamb stew (still Pattys day gathering ). Worked well.

Maybe something with honey or maple?

Almost ANY beer will be good! Stay away from higher IBU like IPAs though. I made a stew the other night with moose meat braised in a 650 ml bottle of Yeti oak-aged espresso RIS, it was fabulous :cheers2:

If it is still available and you can get it. I bet you a Garrisons Sugar Moon Maple Ale would be amazing in a pulled pork.

Also this is more along the lines of an Amber beer, not sure if that is too light.
