Check it out, and estimate how many people it will feed.

Who's hosting? How much detail do you want on the hoptoberfest site? I'm about to update it with the date.

I'll call them tomorrow. Not sure what the smallest size we might be able to get, likely 30 - 40 lb'er. That would easily feed 20 - 25 peeps :cheers2:

Very good. I'm targeting 30 people, but no problem going up to 50. If it starts looking bigger than a suckling will feed, we can work on that.

The biggest suckling that will fit on a Primo is ~ 60 lbs but I'd rather do one half that size, along with your brisket and a bunch of sides. :cheers2:

That's an interesting price structure. What was the smallest size?

It is a bit of an odd price structure but understandable, the little suckers can't eat too much so taking them down when they're tiny wouldn't be very feasible compared to letting them stuff their faces for another month or two. I didn't axe (yet) what the smallest size would be but likely just about any size we want I imagine :cheers2:

Well, I'll leave that to your judgement on the size. At 30 people, it's about $6 per person, for the pig.

Edit: maybe a southern bbq theme:

I'm taking a shine to the bbq feast, but it may require a charge of $10-$15 to cover food costs. We will need to see how everyone feels about that.

Instead of considering it a "charge", let's call it a suckling group buy, as those have been going pretty well lately. :D

I definitely like the idea of a Southern BBQ theme, so we've got choices here (these are just brainstorming ideas, please comment):
a) people bring beer only, plus $15/head for food;
b) people bring beer, and a BBQ-appropriate side, plus $10/head;
c) people bring beer (do you see a trend here?), plus their own food because they don't like meat (or fun, obviously);
d) people just show up and drink our beer and eat our food, $25/head, any excess from the meat will go into the Brewnosers coffers for our upcoming events/ideas (Barrel age of group brew, shipping of group beer to an upcoming competition, etc).

I know things can get sticky when money (and BBQ sauce) is involved, so please feel free to set me straight!

Until then, here's some suckling pig action (jump to 4:30): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mJsDAap4a0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.
