I've only ever used it once, in 2005, but yeah, I also had a long lag time.mr x wrote:My only experience with s-23 it had a long lag. I wouldn't get to anxious.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Thinking about making an English IPA this weekend. Any hop recommendations? From what I understand, English IPAs are generally more 'toned-down' versions of their American counterparts... but I'm not sure how I feel about this!

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Contemplating attempting some sort of lager or pilsner this weekend....
I'm leaning towards pilsner malt with 10% cara-pils and Saaz'n it up
Thinking I'll put a starter together tomorrow night or friday morning to pitch sunday afternoon.
I'm still not sure I know what I'm getting into, best way to learn I figure.

EKG in the English IPA. Good time of year for making a pilsner. Going to start lagering some stuff myself next week.

Gonna put on a few batches this weekend looking at an canadian red beer, canadian blonde, blueberry, and 1820 ipa. These are going to be the last of the extract, malt recipes I do before I go to all grain.

Yesterday was the brew session at the new house. In honor of Friday the 13th, it is tentatively called 'Evil Rye-sing' A Rye IPA (seems to be a popular style lately...)

I have plans for brewing something akin to Brakspear Bitter. A low ABV, somewhat hopped up ESB.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Brewing up that malt bomb red recipe Nash posted and an IIPA of some sort
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Nothing. My wife's working all weekend, and I can't brew or even bottle. My yeast is still in last weekend's vienna lager, and I can't bottle my bock or rye IPA because they aren't ready yet. Boo to that.

Not brewing anything but bottling an icewine, secondarying a Maple Weizenbock, dryhopping a RyepA, and starting a starter for a pilsner. Gonna be a busy day...

I'm brewing a Red Ale either tonight or tomorrow. I have 4 brews 6% or above right now so trying to keep this one around 4%.

Re: Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
This was my last extract brew. Also it was my only brew ever to use just LME. I used to use both LME and DME together. This brew ended up at 6% and fermented at near 20°... I didn't quite have the ferm chamber dialed in yet. There is a flavour I don't like about it though I'm not sure if it's off or just my taste. Maybe I'll show up to the next meeting with one (and some of my better beers).sleepyjamie wrote:ive always wanted to brew that. lemme know how it turns out.Rasp wrote:I'm currently brewing Common Room ESB.

Just mashed in my IPA, BIAB method for the first time. Depending on how hard this cock sucker is to lift out of the keggle, will determine if I use this method again..so far so good though.
