Splitting Bricks of US-05

Post by ivorm » Sat Aug 27, 2016 9:54 am

Does anyone on here ever split bricks of yeast? I was looking at the bricks of US-05 at Everwood and it seems like it would be a good deal to split one 2 or 3 ways, I don't think I could use a full one. I assume if I keep it vacuum sealed in a mason jar in the fridge it should keep?

Me and a couple friends split it 3 ways....keeps very well... I just keep mine in the fridge in tuber ware! Great deal... Half price!

I've done it, it keeps well in the freezer. I'll probably do it again when it runs out.

I'd go in for 1/4 brick.

I have some new Mason jars, I'll just boil them first and let them dry to sterilize them.

No bricks in stock. The website was off. I'll have to grab one another time.

Yeah you're in on it if you still want to. I'm good with a 1/4. 1/2 for Keith (if he still wants it). Dave said it'll be a week before he gets some more in.

Sorry Keith, I missed your reply to this thread. I thought I was subscribed, but I guess not. I don't think Dave got his yeast order in until last week sometime, maybe he had them sooner. I checked on his site a few times but the US-05 bricks were out of stock. Looks like he has them in now. I'll probably still pick one up if a couple people are interested in splitting one.

I've got one not opened if you want to pop out and split it. I'll see nick soon enough. I can get jars and bake them this weekend.
