Hop farm??

Post by blueyes » Tue Apr 03, 2012 12:35 pm

After doing some research on growing your own hops, (which I would like to try) I came acrossed a picture of a hop farm, with poles in the ground and wires running along the tops. It reminded me of a field I see outside of Truro/Glenholme, on highway # 4 to Wentworth with the simular set up. It is just off highway 104 before Hidden Hilltop campgroundk, on the right. Does anyone know where I mean, is it a hop farm?

I think I know where you mean - we passed by it last summer when driving through Wentworth. I don't know the name of the place, but my wife & I both assumed they were growing hops.

I told my kids that they were growing telephone poles. But after my research I think that it is for hops.

I've also noticed a spot along the highway in Timber River, between Port Elgin and the Fixed Link (Confed. Bridge) that had hops growing last summer.

Just some dummy text. Designers like to use Latin as place holder text when doing layout. It looks close enough to English that you can evaluate the design, without having people get distracted with text that doesn't matter.

LOL. That's what we call a "Lorem ipsum" - nonsense latin used to fill demonstration web pages (or any kind of computer output) but NOT intended to be on the public site! If you google "Lorem ipsum" "Phasellus vel turpis", you'll find numerous occurrences of pages containing both phrases.

(actually, the text actually goes back to the earliest days of typesetting, and the source is supposedly Cicero, though it's always been scrambled, so it has no meaning)

Thanks, I was seriously confusilated - I assumed it was just jibberish, but couldn't figure out why they'd put that on a public site.

I should be using this thread as a prime example for junior developers and designers that we hire as to why Lipsum is to never be placed anywhere on a production site.

I think many times companies hire a web designer, who populates the site with lots of Lorem Ipsum so that it looks good, and then the company completely ignores the idea that they are responsible for content...
