Hello
Hi folks,
Brewnosers was recommended to me by a fellow member on another forum and I feel it appropriate to join as this forum is close to home.
I'm new to beer brewing but no stranger to pitching yeast. I took up the craft of wine making in 2009 and now I'm looking for something else to sip on.
I dove headfirst into all-grain brewing, I never brewed a wine kit so why should I brew a beer kit. I'm not a heavy drinker and would rather spend my time with a hobby that is considered an art of some sort, that is interesting , enjoying its rewards while I'm relaxing on the deck in the sun instead of brewing out a batch of alcohol just to have something to drink.
I chose AG brewing for its complexities and the freedom to make anything I choose so I could learn this art and the science behind it. I went with a Blichmann Top Tier system (Electric Tower of Power Version) that was scary to purchase but have no regrets as the system is simple to use and almost automatic, turning out 10 gallon batches in less than six hours from start to cleanup, shaving off time from each batch as I come more familiar with the brewing day.
Cheers!

Re: Hello

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Re: Hello
Thanks for the welcome. I guess the Amherst Brewers probably heard of Apple River as we are only an hour away depending on the roads. I go to Amherst weekly for goods and services and consider the 100km trip routine for milk and gas.
It's as bad as it sounds. Lol
Anyone close by doing all grain? If so where are you getting supplies, I drive to Everwood or Darmouth which is 3 hours but business has me frequently in the area anyways. I assume people get thing shipped.
