Too funny, someone has a sense of humor, love it (most of our wines are fruit wines - all 22 of them).
So, submit recipe with the bottles or only "after I win"?
I think you missed something.
In others news, I'd prefer to keep this thread for organization issues. There is another in the competition section for other questions.

For what it's worth, at all the competitions I've judged at the recipes haven't been included. We judge them blind.

Jon, can you send the poster to the other clubs?
Sponsorship letters are going out now. If you have any suggestions post them here and I'll add them to my list. And yes, I emailed Dave.

What are some of the best/coolest prizes you've seen at other competitions? I've been looking around, but I'd like to hear what you've seen as well.

Typical prizes for medalists include things such as: t-shirts, small bags of hops, dry yeast packets, wyeast voucher to bring to retailer, bottle openers, small kegging or brewing accessories
I've received all of those things. I've seen fermenters, small bags of specialty malts, and a bunch of other stuff you can immagine. Gift cards too, and those are cheap to ship.

On tap at RubberToe's:
Sometimes on a Sunday Belgian Dubbel, Oaked Old Ale, Ordinary Bitter

My brother mocked up a couple competition logos. What do you think?

I like the last one best. They look exciting (which is good).
ALES are sending 1L growlers to every medal winner this year:
http://www.alesclub.com/2015/2015-ales-open-update/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I have mostly got T-shirts, gift certificates, glassware. One certificate was a Beersmith passcode, which I thought was nice. I PMd it to a new member on here and they got a free BeerSmith (I already had one). You nearly always get a Whitelabs 50% off a vial of yeast gift certificate, and often get Whitelabs yeast posters.

I just got a nice email from Dave at the Ales Comp. I thought I would pass it along as it has some relevance to our competition.
Not a pest at all. My responses may not always be immediate as we have 5 month old twins and schedules are a thing of the past.
Most definitely you can enter just the one bottle. It just means if it wins gold it won't go to BOS. You aren't the first to ask.
Good luck with your competition. They are a lot of work. But rewarding. Last year we took over from those who'd been involved for some time and it was an eye opener. Much more prepared for what it takes this year.
I saw on Twitter a while back that you guys had held a BJCP course so I assume that was to be able to facilitate your competition. At the time I invited your judges/club to come out and judge (only half jokingly). Know we always welcome help and observers to share ideas and find new ways to do what we've always been doing. We've found it to be a good way to build relationships with other clubs and with craft breweries (with us it spans 3 provinces).
Anyway. Thanks again for your questions. Talk soon.

So we can send just 1 bottle not 2 as the rules say... that would certainly save some money on shipping.

You also run the risk of having a bad bottle. While judging, I have already requested a second bottle of something to find the first had an isolated cleaning issue and could continue judging the beer.

Thanks Jon.
Entries are coming in daily, and we're officially the largest homebrew competition in Atlantic Canada with 119 entries.
Sponsorship request letters are still going out. The responses so far have been positive which should make for a great assortment of prizes for each category.

And the backup in case of damage in shipping.
But yes, if we receive only one bottle, we'll probably contact you to be sure you meant to do that, but will not disqualify you.

That is awesome though. I may send two of some beer but some beer that i don't think would be a competitor for the BOS but i would love feedback on, i may only send one. They can still win in the category just not in the BOS correct?
