Who knows anything about SEO? Anybody have suggestions on DIY methods or recommended 'service providers' of such a service?

I have my business website hosted by Go Daddy. I didn't do anything with respect to SEO but when you search the relevant terms I'm the first several hits. Not at all sure about this but perhaps the host service may do some of that for you. IDK.

Write lots of good content, make sure your pages have good, descriptive titles, make sure you have a meta description (shows up in the search results). Emphasis on lots of good content. If you have good content, you'll get traffic and inbound links which will boost your Google juice.

Be sure to first learn the essential algorithmic elements that are associated with On and Off Page SEO. Once you have learned the basics, it would be wise to understand how Google's two major SERP updates: Panda and Penguin applies to SEO. To elaborate, Panda affects On Page - your website and Penguin will affect backlinks (links created outside of your site from other webmasters.

Meta Tags (Page Titles, Descriptions)
Canonical tags
Body Content
Keywords Density
URL Structure
H1 H2 H3 Headers
etc...

Top Off Page Factors:
Relevant Backlinks
Natural Anchor Texts
Natural Anchor Text Percentages
Wide Spread of links
Good Domain and Page Authority
etc...

Be sure to create a demo project and try to perform keywords research, write and produce natural content and try having that page rank on Google.
