Jockey box MFL connections
I'm putting together a jockey box, and was wondering if anyone has connected copper tubing directly to MFL connections. That is, put a nut on the tubing and flared it, then connected to the mfl. If so, what would the recommended tubing size be? I'd rather flare ends than slip vinyl on and hoseclamp the ends.

If you haven't already purchased your copper look for a cold plate. You can probably pick up a cold place for in around $50. Definitely the way to go IMO.
However if you have, I'm not sure on directly connecting a MFL with a flared connection. Easiest way might be to connect a short piece of beverage line.

I didn't realize that there were different approaches to jockey boxes. Googled it and from what I can gather, plates are recommended for chilled kegs. This one's going to be used to chill room temp kegs, I'll probably make one up for myself with a plate. Save all the cleanup from dripping glasses through the house in the summertime, set it up next to the BBQ lol.

I can personally confirm warm kegs at 22F serve ice cold during the heat of summer. I take it camping each year for our family camp trip. Keep an eye out here for plates they come up every now and then. I'll post a link to my build later.

I have cold plates in both of our jockey boxes...warm kegs in the summer heat serves ice cold beer.
I also think I read that because of the ph of beer, you shouldn't use copper? Stainless is preferred for coils

That's a really nice looking unit, wtg. Where do the plates come from originally? I looked last night and all I could find were scientific equipment sites.

I got mine from Nash, he normally posts them in the classified section for us every now and then.FrankB wrote:That's a really nice looking unit, wtg. Where do the plates come from originally? I looked last night and all I could find were scientific equipment sites.

They are normally used to chill fountain pop, but work great for jockey boxes. Here's one site with new ones and I'm sure there are plenty more out there.FrankB wrote:That's a really nice looking unit, wtg. Where do the plates come from originally?
