New pub goIng up near my place - Millstone Public House in Dartmouth. Don't know anything about it other than its crawling distance from my house. Sounds like it could use a tap or two of Unfiltered.

They're from the homeland and have been in touch. Forecast chance of Unfiltered is ~ 70% and likely to increase over the coming days.

Tried it last night. I much prefer this version. Excellent transition from chocolate to bitter hops. Like baker's chocolate. Ordered another.

Friday at noon! A one-two that'll leave you on the floor! (If you're not careful, that is. Of course, we know that Unfiltered drinkers drink *responsibly*.)

First: Double Orange Ale DIPA is back!

7.5% ABV
100+ IBU
15 SRM

And then:

oak-aged Twelve Years to Zion DIPA!

8% ABV
100+ IBU
5 SRM

Get on 'em; stay on 'em!
Happy to see the DOA return, and definitely curious about the Oak-Aged TWtZ. Wondering how long was it on/in oak?

Thanks :cheers2:

It was aged on oak long enough to become quite oaky AND fucking delicious.

It's 6 weeks for full extraction. Not aged in oak or, for us at least, that'd make it barrel aged. I usually use spirals or honeycombs.

Just tried the oak aged twelve years to zion. Not a fan. The hops and the oak combine into what to my taste is basically an overpowering cough syrup kind of medicinal taste.

For the record I loved the non-aged twelve years to zion when I tried it and am a pretty big fan of most unfiltered beers (especially the DOA, daytimer, and hoppy fingers)

I had a glass at the school and I liked it. A growler may be too much.

I may have gotten a bad glass of it (this was at the school) or maybe it's just a personal thing - I just know I like a lot of oaked beer, and I like my hop bombs (including the non-oaked twelve years to zion) but somehow this one was clashing hard for me. First time a beer from unfiltered ever really let me down, but I suppose that's bound to happen eventually with all the breweries (found a full pint of good robot's "bank of azalea" pretty hard to drink too a couple weeks ago, severely regret buying a full growler of granite's old cardinal, etc)

We all have our own preferences and tastes and if you don't like it you don't like it. There's nothing wrong with the beer. It meets with rave reviews and I taste my beers daily. It's oaky with vanillins, tannins and a coconut toastiness with the original beer pushing through from underneath.

At the end of the day drink what you like and fuck anything else :cheers2:

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of those cilantro type things where different flavour compounds are perceived in very different ways by different people - plus flavor chemistry is complicated enough as is with how different compounds merge and break down over time. I have no doubt that it tastes great to you and others or you wouldn't put it on tap.

Thanks for bringing back Flat Black Jesus by the way - I have a couple friends that drink pretty much exclusively dark beer so without that I don't think I could've convinced them to hit up unfiltered to begin with :P
