So the time brewery is brew ready. Firing up the system for a test boil, clean, and leak test. Still some cosmetics things to do... like mount the controller lol. But I'm brew ready. Shelving and what not will be one if the next things.

So went from cold tap water to a boil in about 40 mins. Managed to test my mash tun full and brought that to a boil too. I can't wait to brew. Think the wife will be angry if I skip Easter lol.

Cord came with the Hotrod Heatsticks. I ordered it assembled with 12' lengths.

Yea I've got to tear these all down and rebuild soon. However when the valve lever isn't upright I don't have to worry about the bloody safety clip sliding in place. Those things get hot fast!

So what's the advantages of getting a hotrod instead of tapping into the kettle and mounting the element directly?

We're starting to plan going to a electric setup and they seem tempting, just wondering the advantages are worth the additional cost.

Moving them from vessel to vessel during the brew day is the biggest benefit... You can use the same elements in your mash and boil kettle.

Would also be easier to clean (compared to elements installed without triclover).

Jimmy is pretty bang on. Imo it's worth the added cost. I can bounce these around vessel to vessel without any hastle.

How are you finding the Hosehead? Considering pulling the trigger on one. Would prefer the non-digital interface, but value for money these things seem hard to beat... Can you give a review?

Just ordered a Hosehead for my basement brewery build as well after hearing Keith's thoughts on it. Looking forward to giving it a go.

Hose heads are the cats meow. These are very versatile, easy to work with and can swap between vessels on the fly.
As for the controller.
Assign a static IP Address for ease of connectivity.
Also have a spa panel for your hard shutoff incase you need it.

I wish I had hard dials sometimes, but the flexibility of being anywhere in your house and monitor your brewday is the cats meow.

Those are slick but my pot didn't have any tri clover ports to tap into. Also the hose head controllers let me move vessel to vessel even when full.
