Enjoyed this beer. Lots of hops and coconut that come together really well.

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Did you do 2 additions of coconut?

I enjoyed this a lot. I was expecting more coconut but I like the restraint. Nice beer!

Wow. Great coconut nose on this. I got the wife to smell it (and then she quickly tasted it - a good sign), and she said it "smelled like a man". She was, coincidentally, drinking my recent coconut chili porter, so maybe she was predisposed to the coconut aroma - which is definitely prominent.

The beer is awesome. Twice the coconut I used in my recipe... but appropriate if you're making a coconut IPA, which this definitely is. It does what it says on the tin.

Thanks for the share.Image

Yup I do. I do 250 grams in the whirlpool/steep and another 250 grams when I dry hop. Your the first to tell me I used restraint on the coconut haha

I get the coconut more on the nose than on the palate, but it's there. Otherwise, a nice little IPA with really impressive head and especially head retention. The hopping is very nice. Thanks for the share!

Solid beer, I'm getting the coconut on the nose, but a ton of pineapple aroma and flavour. Really enjoyable beer

Lots of coconut aroma, but I didn't get much in flavour. Thought it was a solid IPA with great hop character with tropical fruit dominating the palate. Cheers!

Thanks everyone. Glad everyone is enjoying it. At the Big Spruce comp I did well but a lot of comments were over powering coconut and not enough hops. I guess age killed the coconut. I got a few left so I need to try one tonight and see!

I was delighted at the aroma. So much coconut (I love coconut). As was mentioned, it wasn't really present on the tongue. Still a great beer though!

I found the coconut levels just perfect. They weren't overpowering. I had to look for them behind the hops. Delicious.

Not as expected. I figured it would have had a lot more coconut. I did drink it cold so maybe it muted the flavour a bit. I really had to look for the coconut, and that was a good thing. Not a fan of coconut. Thanks for sharing!
