Making up a double batch of my SNPA, using warrior and northern brewer instead of magnum and perle. Using cascade wet hops for late additions!!

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Pre-boil gravity was 1.056, OG ended at 1.060 right on the spot!! During the last 10min I gave late editions of galaxy for aroma here and there, and at flameout 1.5Lbs of my cascade wet hops!!! Have a good feeling about this one!!Dirt Chicken wrote:Making up a double batch of my SNPA, using warrior and northern brewer instead of magnum and perle. Using cascade wet hops for late additions!!

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Pretty good so far. Keeping the fermentation temp down has been a challange. I chalk that up to this hot summer though. I think I'll be fine once the summer ends. Otherwise I'll have to look into building a chamber.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Did a bitter/brown yesterday with columbus and a bunch of goldings.
Was going to be a bitter but I forgot to rack and wash my ringwood so it's a bit more american brown with us-05 instead of bitter with ringwood/s-04.

Turned out to be a complete disaster! Not at all the taste I was shooting for, but might surprise me once it ferments out ...Stusbrews wrote:Mashing a pumpkin ale right now. It will be my first surprise beer....not a clue what itll turm out to be...lol. all my leftover grains & 4lb punkin.
And it made an interesting afternoon.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Big brew day Friday past. Mashed the barrel RIS and got about 21L @ 1.100 post boil with about 4% sugar boost. Did a second and small third runnings batch sparges. Finished the second boil with 26L of 1.064 with 2lbs of LME added. Split that and diluted down to 20L each at 1.044. Pitched nottingham on one and s-23 on the other.
Most ambitious brew day for me yet and definitely pushed the limits of my setup but with a bit of recipe design on the fly I made the most of it.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Just finishing up our wet hop IPA. Ended up dumping in 1.5kg of hops (21L batch)... It's less a beer than it is a stew.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
I'm hoping so. I used to drink a lot of the Cannery's blackberry Porter when I lived in Alberta and have really been missing that flavour since we moved back to NS.RubberToe wrote:Porter + blackberries sounds awesome!jeffsmith wrote:Brewing a Cascade/Maris Otter SMaSH in the morning and a Robust Porter on Wednesday that will end up on a bunch of frozen blackberries when fermentation is complete
