Hey hey

Post by amartin » Thu May 26, 2011 1:01 pm

Hey hey,

I've just signed up here, although I've been brewing for over six years now, all grain for five. Like a lot of people, I got into in college with a few friends to try to save money, and then things got out of hand. I tend to stick to lagers in the winter, with American and sometimes English ales spring through fall, and at any given time I usually have three to five running beers and another three to five keeping beers (I love my unheated crawl space). I also grow Golding, Cascade and Nugget hops in my back yard, although I'd like to get a German plant back there next spring.

As for the rest, I'm an accountant, and I'm married and living in the suburbs in Dartmouth.

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Excellent to have more experienced brewers. :cheers2:
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:
