March Meeting - Garage Sale and Swap

Post by Brewnoser » Sun Jan 19, 2014 12:06 pm

I am clearing out a lot of homebrewing supplies and gear that I just am not going to use. I am maintaining the ability to brew the odd all grain real ale, but the rest of this stuff has to go. Most of you know that I started brewing because I cold not buy decent beer here. Well, that has changed, thanks in great part to our continued advocacy over the years. So I just don't brew once a week anymore.

I am volunteering now to host the March meeting, and to invite others to bring stuff they've outgrown for others to take home. :welcome:

Most of my stuff will be free - grain, specialty grains, hops, gadgets, good bottles, mini kegs, maybe a couple growlers.

I'll also be getting red of 4-5 Coke style corny kegs, for a small price.

Jeff

I've got some things to swap/unload as well, and am happy to bring them, as long as I don't have to bring them home again!

I can bring several dozen 500mL bottles (some Garrison, some Propeller, some other styles), unless someone picks them up from me earlier (hint, hint).

Homebrew is a fine payment for many of these items. :)

Jeff: please keep in mind the going price for corny kegs is about $35-$45, I'm sure plenty of folks (myself included) would be happy to pay you a fair price for them.

This is a great idea! I have a bunch of stuff that I don't use anymore either. I will list it here, and bring it to the meeting.

I just put random stuff in a beer exchange. This may go to someone who want's it.

Me too! Though the odds of getting to the city for this are slim. If someone could grab one from you for me I'd be game.

I'm also interested in buying 1-2 of those from you; maybe we'll need a raffle for those interested at the March meetup, lol.

Maybe we should have another thread for these items? Moxie had a good suggestion on how to go about this here: http://www.brewnosers.org/forums/viewto ... 418#p63418" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; maybe make a sticky out of whatever we settle on.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I vote we keep this thread for things specifically to be brought to the meeting, to keep it all in one place.

I'm only going to be bringing stuff that I know will move, as I don't want to clutter up poor Jeff's place!

-Approx fifty 500mL bottles (20 Propeller bottles, the rest are a variety of shapes) that I would like to bring.
-Will take stock of extra brewing gear that I would like to pass on, and will post some pics or desciptions.

I should be there, and I'll look through the cupboards for anything I don't need anymore.

I won't be able to make this meeting if it's on the 11th. Wife gave me the choice between the Gala or the meeting.

I paid, but come on, it's $10. How about I bug LM or MO for it Tuesday, and you can pay them back when you pick up the hops? Or pre-pay them tomorrow if you're worried about that.
